Swing to the big band sound of Ken Kilian's orchestra
at your Galena Ill area wedding reception!
Ken
Kilian, one of the most sought after musicians in the tri-state area,
has been playing full-time with his own groups since 1983.
All of Kilian's musical groups play in the swing and jazz style, emulating
the Big Band sound that made the Swing Era so wonderful. The groups play
a wide assortment of dance styles including swing, waltz, cha-cha, rhumba,
tango, and foxtrot and have over 800 songs in their collection.
The different groups include:
- The Ken Kilian Saxtet --a ten-piece group featuring five saxophones
(like all the Big Bands used to have), one trumpet and one trombone
for the brass section, and three rhythm (piano, bass, and drums).
- The Ken Kilian SaxtetPlus--the Saxtet, plus the addition of
four to six brass players and a featured vocalist. This allows the SaxtetPlus
to give Big Band music the fullness and swinging sound that this music
so rightfully deserves, and the vocals add the wonderful icing to this
spicy montage of professional musicians!
- The Ken Kilian Swingtet--7 piece group featuring a trumpet,
trombone, tenor sax, Ken (bari, alto and soprano saxes, clarinet and
flute), and three rhythm. This is fast becoming the most popular wedding
reception combo.
- Combos--for more intimate events you may select a special combo
group. They range from a two-piece duo to a six-piece group depending
upon your needs. For example, you can enjoy a band with a piano and
sax; or piano, bass and vocals; or keyboards, drums and a woodwind or
brass player. The combinations are only limited by your preference.
When his bands aren't performing Ken can be found playing in the orchestras
on one of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships, or with The Mississippi Queen
or American Queen. He is also a regular featured performer at Duke's Place,
Dubuque's jazz club.
